May the 4th – South Windsor Parks and Recreation

Yesterday was May the 4th, an unofficial Star Wars holiday celebrated by fans of the franchise. R2-D2 was out in spirit supporting the festivities at the local South Windsor Parks and Recreation center on Nevers Road. Kids were treated with lightside and darkside cupcakes, candy and photo opportunities with staff dressed as Chewbacca, Boba Fett and Darth Vader. R2-D2 from the Builders Club also made an appearance. He interacted with the crowds, played music and danced the night away. Below are a couple of photos from the event.

New England Air Museum – Space Expo

Saturday the R2 Builders of Connecticut attended Space Expo at the New England Air Museum. Two of our R2-D2’s were on display for photos and interaction with attendees. Over 1000 visitors came out to partake in presentations and demos from various aerospace companies and organizations. The 501st Connecticut Garrison along with members of the New England Garrison came out to patrol the museum as well. Death Vader along with a showcase of Storm troopers were on hand for photo ops.

This was the second year we have been invited out to the expo and look forward to attending in the years to come.
